While it would be great to have a game like UT in the console world, nothing beats the superiority of a good pc. I believe that the playstation series of consoles was a joke (sure you get to play real fast, but you lose the great configuring quality that you get on pc games.) My good friend,Ace11, posted a topic entitled, "PS2, dream system or POS," on pd64.com. This topic was closed after about 89 entries in less than a week. I would like to see your views on the console world, and, of course, the immortal pc. IP: Logged |

Console will always be king of the great adventure game and rpg.PC will always be king of multiplayer. Well, ill give you that PC does have a few good rpgs, Diablo, everquest. IP: Logged |

They both have their ups and downs, PC Games usually have bugs or can't run on all PCs, Consoles you are stuck with the game you buy (until the X-Box arrives). :/IP: Logged |

I understand that by "rpg" you mean games like FF series or something. You're wrong. Those games are known as "pseudo-rpg" as well as any other where the only experience comes from killing. Diablo, FF, Darkstone, Everquest and any other "hack'n'slash" types belong to this group. The real rpg's are games like Fallout (a true hardcore rpg. We won't see another one of those in years) or Baldur's Gate (a bit on the rts side, but...). Those games will never be put on the console out of the sheer fact that they require too much operating power (especially Fallout). So syphon, out of respect to the rpg gere (and to me) stop spreading BS around. OK? IP: Logged |

The PC version is much better! Only get the console version if u really want to play UT goldeneye style. i.e. No looking up or down (well with great difficulty). and also when u use the multiplayer mode on the playstation2 the framerates are almost unplayable. Be warned! How are consoles the kings of rpgs? they all come out on pc one way or another! whether emulated, or ported. Plus there are better RPG games on the PC anyway! As said, both consoles and computers have their downsides. On a console, if a new game comes out, you have the confidence of coming home and just being able to play it. No worrying about if it will play poorly or not. But, computers have much more options and playability, and you get what you pay for. Example, you buy the best video card and processor, you gest the best performance. Nevermind the fact you can do more stuff online with them. Consoles are just starting to begin with online playing through dial-up...i.e, the Sega Dreamcast console, which is now dead due to Sega leaving the console world. It has a 56K modem built in and you can surf the net, listen to MP3s, check emails, and play a small amount of games online. Most of them suck, if not all of them, the best one I've seen is Phantasy Star Online. For the PlayStation 2, Sony claims that they will launch a broadband modem that will plug into the PS2 so you can do all of the stuff as on the Sega Dreamcast, but you will be able to save it on the optional hard drive that they also claim they will be releasing. Personally, I say why go though all of that trouble and paying money for all of this extra stuff when you can just have a PC that will perform and load much faster? As for my opinion on their job with their consoles, the PlayStation was pretty good. Considering it was Sony's first system and it has lasted pretty close to almost ten years (came out in 1995) and has a good amount of games. The PlayStation 2 I think is just a new egg waiting for the chick to unhatch. It has a bright future, but they really f00k3d up when they had the shortage of systems. A lot of console gamers lost their faith in Sony there. The current downsides are that it has barely any decent games right now, and they're still pretty expensive for most people's budget. I received one for my birthday in February, and the only thing I do with it is play Tekken Tag Tournament (plus it is only the game I have). That is probably my favorite console series ever for fighting games and I've been following it since the first game. Other then that, that's it. There is a DVD player on it, plus it can play the older games, but I already have the original PSX and already have a nice Panasonic 5-disc changer DVD player for the TV and a DVD-ROM for the PC.
