Well I think that everyone has a different video card in mind when it comes to the best....It really depends a lot on your other hardware. If you are already thinking 3dfx, it really isn't a bad way to go although I think I speak for everyone when I say that the Voodoo 3 is a little out-dated. 16mb is a little small for most games nowadays (although that card will run UT just fine) 3dfx is nice because you can use Glide (which UT supports nicely). The Voodoo 5 is coming down in price, and you don't really need to worry about support. 3dfx cards never really needed any.Oh the other hand if you want to go with a geforce card you can wait till geforce3 comes out and then the gf2 cards will be dirt cheap.... Hope that helps..there are a lot of nice cards out there, but it's kind of hard to recommend one without knowing your system specs. ------------------ Half the world hates, what half the world does everyday. Well, I wouldn't go with a Voodoo5. I have heard a lot about how nice they look, but from the three examples I have seen of them, they neither look good, or sport good framerates. Even my GeForce2 MX had better visual quality in most of the games I have seen. And was faster in FPS by a good amount. If you don't believe me go here. Now the best card out right now is unarguably the GeForce2 Ultra. But it also costs a pretty penny (around $450 right now). And the GeForce3 is to be released soon which should be upwards of 50% faster. However right now I think the Radion's are the best bang for your buck card. A 32mb Radion can be had for $130, and a 64mb for $200. Both are very fast for the price, and have amazing visual quality. If you need something cheaper, a GeForce2 MX is only $100 right now, and is still a pretty good buy for that kind of money. Good luck. ------------------ [AxE]Dolby: of the knights of the sphere table. IP: Logged |

Go with one of the GeForce cards, nearly every game made today is being made with these cards, and the Radeon, in mind. If you go with the Voodoo's there is a big chance that you'll want or get a game in the near future that can't run on that card, such as Unreal2 which is being designed with the GeForce3 as the chipset basis.IP: Logged |
