Which would be a Barb specializing in Spear Mastery of course. He's pretty cool so far, though he's only level 5 (I just started tonight). I already have an amethyst/topaz gemmed trident. Bash is at level 4, Howl at level 1. Though combat is a little tricky, due to slow weapon speed and no shield, my Spearian absolutely massacres anything he hits.Once I get some more cool gear, I'm going to post pics. ------------------ This post enhanced by IP: Logged |

Axiom... as you've probably noticed, there are a ton of those. It seem that 85% of the battle.net population are Lance Barbs. IP: Logged |

Thanks yuo Old Grednel!I would play him online, but for some reason when I was creating an account it said all the realms were down. So I just started him offline. I haven't played in months, how was I to know there's a ton of them around? Damn, now I have to think of something else... ------------------ This post enhanced by IP: Logged |

Hmmm... As far as I can tell, there is no "Spear Mastery" for the barb. Poleaxe Mastery is the only thing that comes close. And besides poleaxe, there's also axe, sword, mace, thrown, an one more, which I can't remember right now, but it's definetly not spear. Spears are reserved for amazons. Anyway, my barb is a dual weapon charachter. In combat, only swinging your axe or sword really fast, can give you the advantage you need (In truth, my last barb sucked, cause I found two unique items which I was foolish enough to use for weapons. I think it were Hellplague: a longsword with MASSIVE poison dmg, but otherwise suxx, and Scullpicker: a pickaxe that blinds enemies, but otherwise suxx to. Now I have a new barb though). IP: Logged |

Dragonsong: There IS a spear mastery for Barbarians. If you played on Battle.net, you would see that a TON of the people on their play barbarians who max Spear Master and WhirlWind. It's a VERY lethal combination (some barbs deal upto 3000+ damage).IP: Logged |

I stand corrected Is WhirlWind the one where each succesfull attack increases the speed and damage of the next one? IP: Logged |

No, Whirlwind is the one where you spin in a circle while moving wherever you click, attacking anything in your path, sort of like a tornado. With sufficient Life/Mana steal (just 5% of both should be enough), you can keep Whirlwinding (it costs 44 or so mana) and never die or lose your mana. I dunno, I've just messing around with Bash. No matter what level it's at, it only uses 2 mana. That means not only can I just use it as a regular attack (assuming I have some mana drain, i.e ring of the bat) but I can also completely avoid putting any stat points into Energy.------------------ This post enhanced by IP: Logged |

Axiom: Whirlwind is much more effective.I've got a level 75 barbarian on USEast using a nice 174 damage Bec-De-Corbin. With max whirlwind and polearm mastery, I do upwards of 1000 damage. As long as I hit a single monster, just once, the 45 mana I used for that Whirlwind will be recharged. The good thing about whirlwind, though, is that you can hit multiple enemies multiple times. Bash is a good skill up 'til level 30 when you can get whirlwind, but the problem is you can only attack one enemy at a time. With whirlwind, you simply click through the crowd and you'll probably kill everything with just one pass. If not, it doesn't matter. Even with 5% life leech, you can completely recover your life in one whirlwind. IP: Logged |

Well, I'll be keeping that in mind. I'm far from level 30 though. IP: Logged |

Finally a skill for me I HATE crowds of Nigtmare monsters attacking me. BTW, how well does it work against Lightning Enchanted bozos? IP: Logged |

It works perfectly. You hit the enemy 3 or 4 times per swipe, and they'll shoot their lightning once or twice. As long as you've got leech you'll leech enough life and not die. IP: Logged |
